Technics SA-1010 Receiver Advertisement

I may be wrong, but I do believe that the style of audio featured in this advertisement is never going to be collectable. Despite the futuristic aesthetics, the brute power, and the funky lights, hifi hunters have passed this era by! Instead, the next wave of classic audio gear that is starting to rise in price is the mid- to late-eighties upper end equipment. In other words, this early ’80s stuff has been  completely disregarded. One seldom sees these receivers for sale — did they sell in small quantities or did they break down and get tossed in the garbage? I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the latter as Technics (and many others) around this time put chips into their equipment that made them essentially unfixable if they failed.

My Technics SA-1010 has been driving my Bose 901 Series V speakers since 1984 JUST FINE! It’s now time to sell them as I am downsizing. Heartbreaking.

My name is Kevin. I am interested in your receiver.

You are so full of shit on your analogy that it stinks. These were rock solid units that were $850 new. Mine still works fine and its 2019.

Take the cover off and you will find an enormous power supply, and discreet outputs no power modules. The only chip you will find is the computer drive that operates the bias system of the amp. With proper care these will work right up to today and beyond. You don’t see them for sale,is because anyone that owns one would never give it up.This has driven Infinity Kappa 7 speakers for decades with ease. If this is considered junk so be it, can’t prove it by me.
